Tree Series

This week’s challenge at IMT:

For this weeks challenge let us have SHOW & TELL. Create a piece of work in any medium and tell us all about it,how you made it, how you were feeling when you made it, are you happy with it, what will you do with it… detatil, details, details! – IMT

I really do not like to “TELL” but I’ll try this time… This is the first two of the series… I used acrylic paints and pastels on watercolor coldpress paper.

Tree #2

Tree #2

I was trying to figure out for weeks what to do… But the idea of painting trees came from these sketches plus I’m kinda obssessed
sketching trees lately.

Sketch

I do not spray fixative on my pastel works so I have to figure out how I’m going to store them when I am finished. I usually put them in portfolio folders with acetate plastics but for these series I have extra frames and matting ready to use…

Framed

Lastly what to do with this… I was thinking of putting it in my bare office… but backed out… being in an IT shop, my co workers do not actually know that I’m painting and drawing… So these most likely will end up in the same corner where my other stuff is piling up…

THESE ARE LOVELY! I think you should surprise your coworkers by putting them up in a frame in your office. Please do not let them pile up!

I would never think that Purple and orange make such nice trees; but these really are, just great pieces.

I am so drawn to these beautiful colors! Beautiful!

Why don’t you use fixative? Am I missing something?

When I use fixatives, it tends to make the colors dull… the previous orange would not be the same orange after…

These are stunning! Have you researched the fixative situation throughly? There must be something that won’t dull your colors. I am absolutely amazed that you coworkers don’t know you are an artist.. I think you need to reveal the truth and bring some beauty into their lives!

Hello. I came across your site looking for “tree inspiration” for a women’s inspiration workshop I teach on visioning your life. These inspired me! Would it be inappropriate for me to ask if you are interested in selling them? I can’t bear to think of them sitting in a corner:) I would like to reproduce one of them on a “visioning” notebook I use in for the workshop. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work. Inspiring!
    Susan
