Need to Sketch

We spent sometime last weekend at Holliday Park and I was able to sketch on my moleskine. I need to go back there this time to sketch instead of taking pictures.

Damn I miss eating these fruits. I grew up eating macopa, mango, and caimito fruits; never bought them, all I needed to do was climb the ladder, pick and eat on top of our rooftop.

Currently tired and sleepy... So busy now at work (where I actually type in something in the PC), I know it's gonna be hard to draw these coming weeks.

Updated 02/03/2008: submitted to IF for "Blanket". An old sketch... currently struggling to get back to drawing and painting...

I cannot remember being able to finish a still life drawing before this one; most of them usually I just stopped in the middle of the drawing. I am not really fond of still life but it is a very good creative exercise.

Untitled... Yin Yang

Sketches done in the middle of coding. I do not know if I write about this already but I've always have the urge to draw or doodle when I am doing programming stuff, and the reverse the urge to code when doing creative stuff. This is what you call yin yang I guess.

Yin and yang are complementary opposites rather than absolutes. - Wikipedia

Here's another one... I'm going to call this "Eve".

Sketch I did during lunch break sitting on the bench a couple of days ago. I'm just a newbie drawing on location but I am forcing myself now to go out and just draw.

Updated(7/30/2004): I realized my previous submission for "Aging" was too depressing... so I created another drawing... How lucky it is to age when you can hug your grandkids everyday?

The little "notebook/journal/sketchbook thing"... aka Moleskine

April 3, 2005 12:15 AM | posted to moleskine1set1 | permalink | comments (5)

My first drawing in my brand new moleskine.

What's up with all the hype?

I think I first read about it here and was like *huh?*, what the hell is it. Searching "moleskine" over at Amazon, you'll realize it is just a notebook / journal / sketchbook thing.

Then I discovered this popular blog solely devoted to this notebook / journal / sketchbook thing. The notebook / journal / sketchbook thing has even a Wikipedia entry. So WTF, I went over to a local Border's bookstore, checked it out and saw this small black notebook / journal / sketchbook thing worth $15... I almost did not buy it because (I'm cheap) I could buy a skecth book for $7.99 with triple as many pages.

But of course, it is a Moleskine! I do not know maybe it is just all the hype I've been reading. But with a couple of drawings I love this little notebook / journal / sketchbook thing already.

Moleskinerie about page describes it perfectly and I will quote it here:

This is Moleskinerie, a blog dedicated to the proposition that not all notebooks are created equal. Its impeccable provenance notwithstanding this site will talk more about the places and adventures, life's little dramas and other forgettable events that otherwise would have been lost were it not scrawled between the pages of these little black books.

Moleskine is not my obsession, it's an attitude... Armand B. Frasco

Definitely more moleskine drawings to come.
