Flashy 7th Philippine Web Awards

I checked out the finalists and I must say... they are too flashy. Well *duh* "accessibility" is not one of their criteria. But one can also argue about how they define or how they interpret the term "usability" in judging the websites.

I guess Flash is really "in" with regards to Filipino related websites. I've been noticing this trend for quite sometime now. I also tried searching the net for CSS, web standards etc. pinoy related sites and haven't yet found any luck.

I am a little bit of biased here and probably it is inappropriate to comment on this issue too much. I am really not against the use of Flash in websites, my whole point for this entry is the use of it in Filipino related websites is so dominant, that if I am a beginner Filipino web designer I'd certainly want to learn Flash.

For pinoy, Flash is the "standard". Ohhh... scary.
